This team of designers have done the original look at the lay of the land to determine where cycling trails should and should not be created, and have created for you the report you have in your hands. The team has been riding since 1990, been WORBA and IMBA members since 1996, and serve as the International Mountain Bike Association's State Representatives for Wisconsin. With the Jan & Mike Riter, this team helped develop the Trail Care Clinic program for IMBA, and has taught trail maintenance and crew leader classes for WORBA. Scott is the President of WORBA and Rita is Special Projects Director for WORBA, both are National Mountain Bike Patrol of Wisconsin. Their professional careers include business analyst and graphic pre-press manager.
This Mt Horeb native is a landscape architect by day and has helped with trail design in CamRock County Park and South African village-connecting cycling trails. Sam has attended IMBA's Trail Care Clinic, has attended a WDNR class on the Trimble Explorer Pro GPS unit and has volunteered for mapping and trail work on other DNR properties.
It would be impossible to predict or name all the volunteers that WORBA would be bringing to this project. Below is an introduction to just a few people who volunteer for WORBA, who will be doing some of the work on this project.
Current Chief Director and Senior Patroller of the National Mountain Bike Patrol of Wisconsin, First Responder for the Mt Horeb Volunteer Fire Department, graduate of the Trail Care Clinic, and humble technician for the UW-M Genetics Laboritory, Brian brings leadership and problem solving skills to every workday he attends. Brian has participated in trail maintenance and design all over the state of Wisconsin, including safety checks and changes to courses used by the WORS racing series.
While finishing his post-graduate program at UW-Madison this spring, Ben continues to ride and volunteer for mountain bike events. He has performed trail maintenance at Area 25.5 and Southern Kettle Moraine most recently.
This sanitation engineer for the city of Madison rides his bike 13 miles to work most of the year. He also has been a great addition to the trail crew building new trails at Area 25.5, and has organized and ran the weekly time trail for WORBA & Blackhawk Ski club. Dave was WORBA Volunteer of the Year in 1998.
Greg has a great love of the land - he farms it near Mt Horeb. Essential to the Area 25.5 project, Greg has put many hours in with a chainsaw and rock bar to make that trail what it is. Greg also volunteers time teaching young kids from the local school system to love to ride. Greg was WORBA Volunteer of the Year in 1999.
An avid racer, this cyclist also has a trip around the world on a tandem mountain bike under his belt, commutes via bike year round, and rides with people of all skill levels. Ben is a team leader for a graphic design shop and is great at prioritizing and communications. Recent work at Area 25.5 has shown how fast and detailed he can bench cut a side slope trail.
