The Blue Hills were once part of a mountain range that was bigger than the Rockies. Then the glacier came through, flattened the mountains into hills, and broke rock into big chunks. There are places here with fields of rock so thick that nothing can grow, huge rock gardens. And there also some locations that the glacier seems to have missed, and left huge slabs of rock.
The blue circle on the map roughly outlines the area where the larger part of the Blue Hills are. They are surrounded by the communities of Rice Lake, Birchwood, Ladysmith, Bruce, Weyerhaeuser, and Cameron.
